A. Ph.D. Degree Programme
1.Qualification for Admission:
Candidates should possess a Master''s degree in Economics or in a related field from this University or other recognized universities. Candidates are required to furnish proof of their research capability in the form of strongly favourable comments from academic references. Special consideration will be given to applicants'' academic publications.
In addition to University regulations, students in the MPhil programme of the Economics Division, after completing a minimum of 24 credit units of course work (except Independent Study) with a GPA of at least 3.7, may be admitted directly to the PhD Programme on the recommendation of the Division Head with the approval of the Board of Department of Economics and the Graduate Council.
2.Examination Subject:
Applicants are required to take the GRE General Test. The GRE Economics Subject Test is highly recommended.
All applicants must also fulfil the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate School before being considered for admission. Please refer to the "Postgraduate Prospectus 2000-2001" for details on such requirement. Applicants in Mainland China should have a TOEFL score at least 550.
B. M.Phil. Degree Programme
1.Qualification for Admission:
Candidates should have majored in Economics or related disciplines with a good background in Mathematics or Statistics.
2.Examination Subject:
Non-local applicants are required to take the GRE General Test; those without the GRE score may still be considered, but they will be at a disadvantage. The GRE Economics Subject Test is recommended.
All applicants must also fulfil the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate School before being considered for admission. Please refer to the "Postgraduate Prospectus 2000-2001" for details on such requirement. Applicants in Mainland China should have a TOEFL score at least 550.
