The Department of Economics confers the Bachelor and Master of Arts degree in Economics.
The undergraduate economics curriculum prepares students for graduate studies as well as employment in government and private industry. Economics majors pursue studies designed to acquaint them with the theoretical foundations of modern economic analysis, analytical tools, and applications to contemporary issues.
The curriculum also provides an innovative approach to the study of orthodox theories. Provisions are made to develop knowledge and understanding of urban affairs and economic development, not only from the traditional point of view, but also from that of minority people and developing countries of the third World. Attuned to current problems of American and world economic, the program should be of interest to students wishing to pursue either graduate study in economics and related fields or employment.
