Economics The major in economics is designed to: (1) provide the student with an understanding of our present-day economic system and an understanding of economics and its relationship to other disciplines; and (2) prepare the student for graduate work or employment in government
and business.
Students majoring in economics may be certified to teach in the broad area of social studies at the secondary level. To obtain requirements for teacher certification, students should contact the Department of Teacher Education.
