ECONOMICS
The economics major is built around a core of courses including macro- and micro-economic theory and a research seminar. Electives in the major enable students to focus on their special areas of interest. Students majoring in economics must complete a concentration of 30 semester hours in economics and business administration. They must also complete selected mathematics and accounting courses. Upon graduation, economics majors may enter careers in such areas as business and finance; however, they usually continue their education at the graduate level.
HISTORY
Underlying the history major is the assumption that historical investigation is a valuable mental discipline and is important to understanding ourselves and our world. The courses introduce students to a variety of historical problems, personalities, and ideas. The major provides training in the skills of historical research, analysis, and writing. Graduates are well prepared for employment and professional study. They choose careers in, for example, law, government, museum curatorship, and teaching.
