The Center for Economic Education, established in January 1976, offers programs in economic education for elementary, secondary, and college teachers, and business, professional and civic groups. The purpose of the Center is to institute, develop and promote programs which will increase economic understanding in cooperation with teacher education, other university or community programs. Center services include: community and consultant services for workshops, institutes, conferences; materials and teaching aid development, curriculum design and integration; economics courses for prospective and in-service teachers, university students an other interested adults, area business, professional and civic groups. The Center for Economic Education is affiliated with the National Council and the Texas Council of Economics Education.

The SBDC Provides free professional business management consulting and high quality business information seminars for the benefit of the small business community in Southeast Texas. Anyone interested in forming a small business and those in existing small businesses (those with 500 or fewer employees) who need practical help have free access to experienced business professionals through individual consulting sessions. SBDC clients are encouraged to build business skills and improve their probability of success by attending seminars, workshops and conferences produced by the SBDC.
