Monmouth University,School of Business Administration

MISSION School of Business Administration's mission conforms with the mission of the University.

... to provide an education that qualifies its graduates for positions of leadership in both the private and public sectors.  Curricula are developed, taught, and regularly updated by a faculty with strong academic and business experience.   They stress the development of critical thinking, sophisticated communications skills, and a flexible managerial perspective... . Instruction is primarily in small classes that stress close contact with instructors and special contributions by visiting lecturers. (96/98 Undergraduate Catalog, p.60)

Furthermore, the intention of the SBA faculty is:

... to excel in educating business students by integrating scholarship and business experience in academic programs that are subject to continuous review and revision. The primary purpose of our programs is to enable graduates to acquire the knowledge, skills, and practical judgment necessary for responsible and rewarding careers in business. (Accreditation Plan, SBA, submitted to the AACSB in November 1993, page 1).

In order to achieve SBA's mission, the faculty is guided by the following:

To develop our students’ skills that are related to success in business and professional life including competencies in communications, analysis and decision-making, teamwork, and use of information technologies.
To provide students with the knowledge required to function effectively in a dynamic, technologically driven global business environment through a contemporary business curriculum.

To advise and guide students concerning academic and career matters.

To recruit, develop and support a faculty that embodies the qualities necessary to achieve the teaching, intellectual contributions, and service objectives and fulfill the missions of the SBA and the University.

To link the SBA with the University, alumni, academic and scientific communities, disciplines, the business community and the local community.

To insure continuous improvement in the processes related to our mission.

To maintain a strategic orientation by monitoring the external environment and effecting changes in SBA programs and
policies to survive and compete in a dynamic market.
