The Bachelor of Arts degree program with a major in economics is a joint degree program offered by the economics faculty and the Undergraduate Division of the College of Arts and Sciences. The program should be viewed as a program in the social sciences, not as a program in business administration and management. Graduates of the program acquire knowledge of the arts and sciences by taking courses in the General College Studies Program as prescribed by the Undergraduate Division of the College of Arts and Sciences. They acquire depth and breadth in economics by taking a
minimum of thirty semester hours in economics. In addition, they pursue their own interests in arts, sciences, or business by taking several elective courses.
Graduates, then, have a broad base in arts and sciences and a specialization in economics. The program prepares students for employment in business or government, and for graduate study or professional schools.
The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in economics requires the satisfactory completion of:
a. The Critical Foundations in the Arts and Sciences (CFAS) of the Undergraduate Division of the College of Arts and Sciences.
b. Economics Requirements - at least 30 semester hours of economics, which must include:

Any collegiate statistics course of at least 3 hours. Other courses in economics yielding at least 12 hours (All courses must have the approval of the student's advisor).
c. Elective courses as approved by the student's advisor.
