Economics is concerned with the allocation of resources, income distribution and stabilization policy in a market-oriented economy. Its goal is to understand current and historical problems such as inflation, employment, unemployment, shortages and surpluses. Analytical tools of economic theory and quantitative methods are developed and applied to real-world problems.
