The economics department consists of 15 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members, all holding doctorates in economics from institutions with international reputations. The faculty is relatively young, with nearly half joining SCSU within the last 10 years. The teaching and research expertise of the economics faculty is quite diverse and includes such areas as microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, urban and regional economics, industrial organization and market structure, money and banking, public finance and public choice, labor economics, economic history and development, econometrics, mathematical economics and other fields. All faculty members are actively involved in teaching graduate courses and supervising thesis and internship projects in the M.S. program. A large portion of the faculty has been active in published research, service to various professional organizations and consulting.
